Columbia Records kept this concert in the can for decades. Mosaic has finally restored it to print. To hear the Art Farmer Quintet perform at the MoMA in a wide-open space with beautiful sound is a joy. Better still is Jimmy Heath, who turns in one of his best performances ever on the tenor. There’ll be a lot of Jimmy Heath, plus some Charlie Rouse (both alone and with Monk). So please join me, or check back for the download.

Bop and Beyond returns to the air on 01/16/08 with a two-hour tribute to the music of Oscar Peterson. Besides his iconic trio performances, the set will also focus on some of his collaborations and accompaniments.

There are several other spotlight shows currently in development, including a comprehensive look at the recently released Complete On The Corner Sessions of Miles Davis; a retrospective on two intriguingly vague and disappeared musicians (Jimmy Woods and Dupree Bolton); a strictly stride piano set; and an overview of my most recent Mosaic Box Set Purchase…

Hope you’ll join me:
