Happy Belated Birthday, Hank Mobley~!!

Hank Mobley would’ve been 80 yesterday had he lived and, as befitted his status as the perpetually underrated tenor of his era, I blanked on his birthday yesterday. To make amends, I offer a variety of highly enjoyable Hank Mobley performances:

Hank Mobley (tenor sax), Art Farmer (trumpet), Horace Silver (piano), Doug Watkins (bass), Art Blakey (drums) / Blue Note Records, 1957

Hank Mobley (tenor sax), Grant Green (guitar); Wynton Kelly (piano); Paul Chambers (bass); Philly Joe Jones (drums) / Blue Note Records, 1961

Hank Mobley (tenor sax),  Freddie Hubbard (trumpet), Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass),  Art Blakey (drums) / Blue Note Records, 1960
