Since I am planning evaluating over 100 jazz albums in my collection, most of which I intend to review, I think a change in format is in order. The haphazard Jazz Reviews section needs an overhaul. I am unsure exactly on how to proceed. Whether I should keep a separate hyper-linked archive or else just make all future reviews a regular blog post searchable via categories, tags, and the search bar. If I keep a separate section, it will definitely need to be better organized. That said, given the amount of reviewing I plan to do, a separate section might prove cumbersome. Integrating (and rewriting some of the lesser) old reviews might be the way forward.
Readers! Thoughts?
I read every review you post and have bought several CDs based on the review, I have not been disappointed. You have caused me to dig back into my own collection on occasion to hear something that had been long forgotten, I am a hoarder with many titles I do not even realize I still own. I like the picture of the album cover followed by your write-up, the length and content is just right. The original album art is just not as enjoyable with the CDs.
How would I organize it better? How about a list of hyperlinks with the album title and artist. Click the link and it opens up the usual review, picture of the album cover and your comments. Maybe maintain a top 100 list and substitute new titles, that bump other titles from the list, as you refine your favorites. Keep the old reviews available of course in a runners up listing.
Just a thought, I’ll take whatever your select. Keep up the good work, I for one appreciate reading your site.
