This Friday, 04/10/09, Bop and Beyond celebrates “April In Paris” with two hours of Parisian inspired jazz. From Don Byas to Django Reinhardt, we’ll cover the sounds of a Paris spring– with a special focus on the man who provided its main rhythm and flow: Kenny “Klook” Clarke.

Kenny Clarke lends his powerful drumming to three feature sessions: the Nathan Davis Quintet’s exquisite The Hip Walk, Dexter Gordon’s legendary summit with Bud Powell entitled Our Man In Paris, and the Miles Davis classic film score Ascenseur Pour L’échafaud.

We’ll also be hearing music from the Clifford Brown-Max Roach Quintet, Von Freeman, Coleman Hawkins, and more.

So please join me this Friday, April 10th, 2009 at 6pm on WSVA Radio for a two hour celebration of Jazz in Paris!
